Kordia first to achieve Microsoft certification

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Auckland, New Zealand: - Kordia is pleased to announce that it is the first company in New Zealand to achieve the Microsoft SIP Trunking qualification for Microsoft Lync™.  In addition to being a Kiwi-first, Kordia is one of only a handful of businesses in the Asia-Pacific region to be awarded the certification.

“While the qualification proves we are experts at implementing SIP Trunking for Microsoft Lync™, at Kordia we use our own SIP Trunking service and Microsoft Lync as well, so we know just how powerful it can be for our customers,” says Drew Gilpin, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at Kordia.

“We’re excited to be a part of bringing Microsoft Lync™to New Zealand, and we can assure all our customers that they are in safe hands in terms of both seamless network transition and ongoing support by our expert engineers. We’re also happy to confirm that Microsoft support is being extended into Kordia’s own SIP Trunking infrastructure,” says Gilpin.

“Quite simply, Kordia’s OnKor solution lets businesses put voice and data into one network, making it easier to manage, more reliable, and really boosting network performance. When you put Microsoft LyncTM on top of that, you no longer need to invest in separate media gateways for interoperability, meaning real cost savings while putting you in full control,” says Gilpin.

Gilpin says that although the qualification specifically certifies Kordia’s SIP Trunking service to support Microsoft Lync™, rigorous testing also demonstrates the overall quality of Kordia’s OnKor Voice service for all prospective customers.

The Microsoft qualification programme ensures that customers have a seamless experience with set-up, support and the use of qualified telephony infrastructure and services with Microsoft's unified communications software. Only products and vendors that meet rigorous and extensive testing requirements and conform to the Microsoft specifications and test plans receive the qualification.

“The Microsoft Unified Communications Open Interoperability Program for Lync is designed to ensure that vendors providing interoperability with Microsoft unified communications solutions do so in a consistent, high quality and supportable manner,” Microsoft UC Technology Strategist Paul Dolley says.  “Kordia’s OnKor SIP Trunking service has been tested through this programme, making Kordia the first New Zealand service provider to offer qualified SIP Trunk services for Lync Server 2010.”
