Kordia first to join NZ’s Centre for Social Innovation

Friday, December 19, 2008
Innovative solutions. Harmonisation of people and technology. These have always been Kordia’s key areas of focus.

As a forward thinking and innovative company, we believe it makes sense that our next progressive step is in the field of Social Innovation.

Kordia is proud to be the first to sign up as Foundation Partner for New Zealand’s fledgling Centre for Social Innovation.

As an independent enterprise, The Centre for Social Innovation has been created to find and extend breakthrough ideas that tackle New Zealand’s most important social issues.

Because there are many complex and multifaceted issues to address, the Center provides the ideal vehicle for collaboration. Together, the public, private and community sectors will create a space for great ideas to grow.

Activities planned for the Centre in 2009 include:

  • Focusing on social needs that are underprovided
  • Working with partners to incubate sustainable solutions
  • The implementation of New Zealand’s inaugural Social Innovation camp which will bring social entrepreneurs and web developers together in a 48 hour challenge
  • Bringing leading international and social innovators and designers to New Zealand to share their skills
As primary Foundation Partner, Kordia is delighted to be supporting a number of these activities.

Our first planned event takes place in February 2009 with a CEO Forum to be hosted by Geoff Hunt.

The Centre of Social Innovation website is currently under development, but you can learn more about the concept of social innovation at the UK Young Foundation website.

We look forward to a visit from the Head of the Young Foundation, Geoff Mulgan, in April 2009.
