When it comes to busy stadiums and high-profile events, communications often come to a standstill.
With thousands of network users attempting to relay the game and the final score, telecommunications coverage is scarce.
However, Kordia was able to ensure that communications were flowing smoothly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground this cricket season, with the successful implementation of an enhanced coverage solution.
This allowed Hutchison Telecoms to offer its customers maximum mobile network reliability throughout the summer cricket season.
Kordia was selected by Hutchison to design and deliver an active network that could support large volumes of traffic without impacting on its macro network. This follows a succession of stadium projects Kordia successfully completed for Hutchison at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Gabba in Brisbane in 2008.
Kordia delivered a complex design in two months, instead of the normal six month timeframe.
“We have delivered another highly-demanding project within a record time frame, which personifies what we do best – delivering solid telecommunications solutions with our “sure we can!” attitude,” said Kordia’s Managing Director Peter Robson.
“It demonstrates our ability to truly harmonise people and technology in the most challenging environments, meeting the most demanding deadlines.”
Kordia’s Specialised Coverage Solutions Team has built a solid reputation on designing and delivering in-building, tunnel and stadium solutions across a number wireless technologies.
Using LGC’s active technology, Kordia installed 163 antennas and 5500m of cables to ensure coverage to every corner of the stadium – from the terraces to VIP areas.
