They’re not only talking about us in the UK, they’re following our lead.
So says Gary Forrest, managing director of Pure IP; a telecommunication company used globally by both large and small businesses to create VoIP (voice over IP) solutions.
“Our goal is to increase productivity, unify customer communications and reduce annual operating costs,” he says. “We always want to remain ahead of the game to ensure our customers are receiving the best VoIP solutions in the industry.”
With this in mind, Forrest headed to the UK to visit a company called Exponential-E to see how they were running their network.
“Their reference point for what they were doing up there was Kordia—all the way down in New Zealand!” he says. “We knew then that we needed to align ourselves with Kordia and are now their key OnKor Voice integrator. We’ve since signed an exclusive partnership.”
The result of a fundamental upgrade of many of Kordia’s systems to support entry into a new market, OnKor leverages Kordia’s existing investment in its NGN platform and extends this converged network capability to the corporate market.
OnKor is a converged managed WAN service based on the Carrier Ethernet standard. Kordia has been careful to ensure that OnKor supports all of the common business applications, including cloud computing and provides the customer with complete visibility and control of the network.
OnKor Voice is a value-add solution designed from the ground up to help businesses take advantage of the benefits of moving their voice onto this converged network environment.
Already recognised as being the leader in converged network capability, OnKor Voice was an easy choice for Aviat.
The wireless expert in advanced IP network migration, building the foundation for the 4G/LTE broadband future and enabling wireless transformation around the world, Aviat was the first cab off the rank for OnKor Voice.
The company had already been using a Kordia 5MB WAN Internet service for three years, but when an opportunity to provide SIP trunking services emerged, Kordia and Aviat sat down to conduct an OnKor price and feature comparison.
Today, Aviat is the proud owner of a complete OnKor package, complete with SIP trunking, Managed WAN and Internet services, at an overall cost-saving of 30% on the previous service.
IT Manager Raman Hari says that Naenaebased Aviat is looking to sign up with OnKor voice for three- to five-years.
“The service is outstanding and the cost saving is massively compelling for us,” he says.
It’s a system that Kordia has also implemented internally, with its New Zealand IS department transitioning this year to OnKor WAN and Internet and now Voice services.
“We were previously running our own internal network, with no reporting,” says Hannes Van Zyl, CIO for Kordia.
“The introduction of VoIP and SIP trunking has resulted in a significant cost saving for Kordia. We’ve modernised our telecommunications platform and retired the old legacy PABX system, eliminating lease and maintenance costs associated with this platform.
“We’ve rolled out new capabilities and features previously not available through the old legacy PABX and demonstrate Kordia’s absolute trust in the network services.”
