Engineering and Property Manager

Seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to drive the future strategic network of sites for all our property, structures, towers, buildings and roads.

The role

Reporting into the Head of Operations, this role is hands-on in nature and will see you leading a team of four across structural engineering, lease management and property and asset compliance.  You'll also be tasked with developing and driving the future strategic network of sites and for all our Property, Structures/Towers, Buildings and Roads. 

Kordia has more than 200 communications sites and supporting infrastructure covering the full length and breadth of NZ.  These towers transmit radio and television services throughout the country.  The sites also include associated buildings and access roads. 

More specifically the role will see you

  • Develop and drive the future strategic network of sites by ensuring the capacity and integrity of our assets are fit for future growth
  • Lead, develop and mentor a team and support Engineers to achieve Chartered status
  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager on the maintenance and testing programmes for all our Property, Structures/Towers, Buildings and Roads.
  • Manage continuous improvement and efficiency programmes to maintain and operate
  • Develop and maintain quality systems and ISO Accreditation throughout the property and planning team
  • Have a well developed maintenance programme to reflect the ageing of different asset types. 
  • Ensure budgetary accountabilities, both operational and capital expenditure are achieved.
  • Work with the legal team around compliance, leases, property contracts and site management.
  • Promote excellent communications and work with stakeholders, councils and local bodies to achieve positive outcomes and to avoid disputes.
  • Keep abreast of changes in Resource Management Act, local authority regulations and district schemes.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance across Kordia building sites, including site security, hazard reporting, safety of property and asset usage. Eliminate, isolate or minimise risk across all sites to achieve a zero harm environment.

Who we are looking for

This is a strategic, multi-faceted role, and we are looking for a talented, dedicated and driven person to join the team.  We are targeting candidates with:

  • Current Practising Certificate as a Chartered Professional Engineer (NZ) or close to it
  • 10 years’ experience in managing structural or property assets
  • Experience leading a team (preferable)
  • Understanding of Compliance and Resource Management Act and other relevant property related legislation to ensure property statutory compliance
