Live linking is a versatile solution for broadcasting your event’s footage to any audience, anywhere in the world. Backed by fibre and satellite connectivity, broadcasters and production companies rely on live linking to stream high-quality content with low latency. When the stakes are high, live linking delivers – as demonstrated by the below events that Kordia has partnered with.

Matariki

Kahawai Productions has trusted Kordia over many years to broadcast its Matariki dawn celebrations – including from remote locations where connectivity is a challenge, such as Coronet Peak (2025) and Wanaka / Treble Cone (2024).

In locations such as these, where fibre infrastructure is unavailable, live linking relies on satellite coverage. For the 2024 celebrations, Kordia deployed two SNG vans to ensure reliable, seamless coverage and backup options in the case of disrupted coverage. One SNG van was based at the Glendhu Bay Lookout, with the other at the Treble Cone ski field.

The SNGs broadcast the footage from two sources (video from fixed cameras as well as a drone), linking the programme to TVNZ, Warner Brothers Discovery, Sky, and Whakaata Māori. Footage was also streamed to Stuff, Matariki.net, iwi radio, and Radio New Zealand – ensuring seamless coverage on a wide range of broadcast and digital platforms, despite the remoteness of the event’s location.
