If you are a decision maker in the broadcasting, cinema, TV production and digital media markets across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands, Media Technology Pacific is a must-attend event where you’ll gain visibility of the latest emerging technologies influencing content viewing and listening.
The third bi-annual event will be held at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd August 2018.
The conference will feature speakers and panel discussions that take a wide-ranging look at how technology needs to adapt to the shifting tides of disruption across the complete media landscape. This includes a look at new technology uses in the NZ media environment, as well as emerging trends internationally.
Returning to the show for 2018 will be Conference Chair, Gerry Smith. He has guided past shows and brings a unique combination of experience in traditional broadcasting and an understanding of how technology is shaping the future of media.
CONFIRMED SPEAKERS SO FAR INCLUDE
Ian holds an LLB from the University of Otago and was inducted into the New Zealand Hi-Tech Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2010 he was named North & South magazine’s New Zealander of the Year. In the same year, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the New Zealand Computer Society, the top honour for the ICT sector in New Zealand.
He was named a Companion of the NZ Order of Merit in 2012’s New Year Honours List, for services to television and business. He also won the Creative sector of the World Class New Zealander Awards in the same year.
In 2013, Ian was also named Outstanding Māori Business Leader of the Year.
It may come as a surprise then that Ian claims to have no skills whatsoever. He is at a loss to understand why anyone would want to hear his story. However, he suspects the reason he received such accolades is that he lives at the bottom of the world, where no one has been able to check him out.
That, and the fact he’s had the good fortune to have worked alongside some of the most talented people in the world.
