Preparing New Zealand for a 5G Future

Field Services

A leap into the future

5G mobile networks deliver the connectivity to power artificial intelligence and other next-generation services, and their rollout is well and truly underway around the world. The opportunities which come with revolutionary connectivity cannot be missed which is why smart buildings are being readied for 5G.

But the major challenge is that most buildings weren’t (and often still aren’t) designed with mobile connectivity in mind. An estimated 80% of mobile phone calls and data use now originate from inside a building, meaning In-Building Coverage (IBC) is a crucial component of 5G’s future.

From multi-story buildings, university and hospital campuses, to a transport tunnel, Kordia’s Special Coverage Solutions Team is the ‘go-to’ when it comes to solving complex mobile coverage issues – including 5G connectivity. Our expert engineers have in-depth knowledge of 5G and network connectivity, from design right through to installation and ongoing management.

Connection is in our DNA
A trusted team of experts
Our in-house team of Field Services experts are based around the country and are the ‘go-to’ for some of New Zealand’s most mission-critical services. They're responsible for ensuring tunnels across the country have critical communications infrastructure in place.
Keeping New Zealand connected
Kordia’s network is an essential service to some of New Zealand’s biggest brands. Our experts built and now operate this network, which spans the length and breadth of the country, including the Chatham Islands. This is monitored 24/7, 365 days a year from our National Operations Centre (NOC).
Bringing mobile strategies to life
The team recently rolled out hundreds of Greenfields small cell sites in metro and rural locations throughout Australia to help bring local Telcos’ high-speed mobile strategies to life.
Ready for the Internet of Things
Kordia was responsible for the rollout of Thinxtra’s Sigfox IoT network, which covers 94% of the New Zealand population. Kordia has was also contracted to build and operate Spark’s LoRA IoT network.
Diverse network design
Since 2009, Kordia has been contracted to design and install mobile phone jamming systems on behalf of prison authorities in Australia and New Zealand.

Network design
Our engineers design mission-critical radio and fibre optic networks, both short and long range. Whether it’s providing safety-of-life systems in a new railway tunnel, Wi-Fi for a quality control system, connecting remote offices or embracing the Internet of Things (IoT), we bring together the right combination of technologies to provide an end-to-end solution.
Network build
Our structural engineers have built the Kordia network. From large antenna tower design and installation to tower removals and advice after natural disasters, we have developed leading-edge solutions for all manner of infrastructure. Our innovative techniques reduce project complexity and engineer the right solution for businesses like yours.
When one of our engineers designs a network solution, our people install it which means you have highly-skilled, experienced engineers coming to your site. Our technical staff use state-of-the-art gear to check everything is installed and operating correctly and rigorous health and safety requirements are met.
Our engineers are the people other engineers turn to for best-of-breed solutions. Kordia’s Network Management Centre team monitor remote networks to see how they are performing and whether early intervention is needed. Take comfort in the knowledge that a Kordia engineer is never more than a few hours away and will get the job done right the first time, no matter the complexity.
