Maritime communications & operations
24/7 operation and monitoring of critical safety of life maritime communications across nearly a quarter of the world’s oceans.
Supporting critical maritime services
Kordia has over 30 years’ experience providing critical communications, networks and other services for maritime environments.
With two Maritime Operations Centres established in New Zealand and Australia, we have long been the established partner for Maritime NZ and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority to operate and support VHF/HF radio communications. Used by seafarers to receive information and to call for assistance in emergencies, our radio operators play a critical role in responding to incidents at sea, with responsibility over almost a quarter of the world’s oceans
Beyond radio operations, Kordia’s expertise extends to designing and building maritime radio networks; supporting monitoring of assets, such as undersea cables and aids to navigation; maintenance and logistics; and much more.
SOLAS Radio Communications
Kordia is a trusted provider of Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) services across Australia and New Zealand, supporting Maritime NZ and AMSA in safeguarding lives on the water. From our Maritime Operations Centres (MOCs) in Wellington and Canberra, we operate extensive HF and VHF networks that span close to a quarter of the world’s oceans—over 90 million square kilometres. When a distress call is made anywhere within the Australasian maritime region, it’s Kordia’s MOC teams who respond. Operating 24/7, every day of the year, we ensure critical communications are always available when they are needed most.
